Description

Crush Asteroid Review

Some games don't need a plot, a tutorial, or a cutscene to explain why you're holding down the space bar like your life depends on it. Crush Asteroid is one of those. It's a stripped-down, no-nonsense arcade shooter that drops your little ship into open space and lets a swarm of rocks do the rest of the talking. No fancy upgrades tree, no currency to grind, just you, a rotating cursor of a spaceship, and a screen full of tumbling debris that splits into smaller, angrier chunks every time you land a hit. The 2D visuals keep things clean and readable, which matters a lot once three or four asteroids are drifting toward you from different angles at once.

Control Scheme

  • Left and right arrow keys rotate the ship in place, letting you line up a shot without drifting off course.
  • Holding the space bar fires a steady stream at whatever's in your crosshairs.
  • Momentum carries over between turns, so timing your rotation matters more than mashing keys randomly.
  • There's no separate thrust key to fuss over, which keeps the whole thing focused purely on aim and reaction speed.

Top Tips

  • Break big asteroids from a distance before they split into a cluster of smaller, faster fragments near your ship.
  • Rotate in short bursts instead of long spins; overshooting your target wastes precious seconds.
  • Keep firing even mid-turn since the shot lines up with wherever your nose is pointed the instant you release.
  • Watch your flanks constantly. It's easy to fixate on one rock dead ahead while another sneaks up from the side.
  • Prioritize the fragments closest to you first. A bigger asteroid far off can wait a beat, but a small one nearby can't.
  • Stay near the center of the screen when possible. It gives you more reaction room no matter which direction trouble comes from.
